竞赛简介
Okay so I'm looking for at least one tattoo design. I'm actually planning two tattoos, one on each thigh, but I'm giving you the option of which design you think you're best able to complete. It will take a long time to get these done, and I don't mind which one I get done first. I'm going to describe the themes first, then the style and an explanation of the inspiration pics.
Tattoo 1 will be going on my right thigh and will be sea themed. I'm looking for a design of any of the ooey gooey sea creatures in a mural all tangled together. Jellyfish, sea combs, anything like that.
Tattoo 2 will be on my left thigh and will be plant themed. I'm thinking mostly carnivorous plants, like pitcher plants, etc, but any plant or animal life you see fit to include in your design is a-okay with me.
As a guideline, both designs will probably be around 15x30cm when tattooed, running lengthwise up my thigh, but that does not mean that you need to create art in a perfect rectangle. I prefer it if your art has a central focus, but sprawls outwards from that point. To be clear, I am not a skinny dude, so there is plenty of canvas space to work with.
These designs were originally inspired by the work of Ernst Haeckel, and I have included two of his images as reference (the jellyfish and pitcher plant pictures). However, I don't like the colouring he uses and the linework is far too detailed for a tattoo, so I'm not looking for an exact replica of his style. Also, the dude turns out to be super racist, which is another reason not to use his work.
I'm looking for art with a kind of watercolour feel, hence all of the watercolour tattoo reference pics. I'm happy for you to use black linework, or if you feel like the design is better without, then please go ahead. To be clear, I'm not a huge fan of any of the tattoos attached, but I like the general linework and the colours used, which is why they're attached as references. I'd like most of the colour to be within the shape of the image, to make it clear what the image is of, but then I'd like it to spill outwards. Please remember that your work is going to be tattooed, so details are fine, but don't go too fine.
I love bright toxic colours and vaporwave art (but I don't want to be confined by the cool blues and purples of vaporwave, hence highlighting that I love toxic greens and pinks and oranges as well). I love clashing colours next to each other in a way that's complimentary. Don't be afraid to put a bright orange highlight in the middle of a plant stem if you think it belongs there. Please don't feel like you have to be confined by the natural colours of plants or fauna. I just wanna see something that'll make me feel good about my skin when I look down at it.
Last note, don't feel like your work has to be wholesome or pretty. I love art that makes you feel slightly weird or spooky. If you want to hide poison dart frogs in the plants (attached), go for it. Brightly coloured spooky things are amazing.
If any of this brief is too vague or too broad, please ask questions. This is my first time commissioning art, and I know there can be a huge gap between what's in my mind and what's in yours. I look forward to seeing what you create. If it's super cool, I'll get someone to stab me with needles and put it on my body forever.
