Technologies AWS,SSL,Tomcat,Apache 1. Need help getting our AWS environment setup with one way SSL certificates. Currently using StartSSL need advise on more well known certs 2. Want to deploy 2 different tomcat instances on AWS One will host a webapp and the other a REST app 3. We want something on the AWS like apache to terminate the SSL connection. We are using startSSL at the moment but open to suggestions to use better known certs. 4, This should then be able to redirect a domain name to the webapp using the one way SSL. 5. Should also be able to redirect a sub-domain the the rest app

Hi There Well SSL Provider doesn't matter as far as the security of the SSL is concerned. I personally use StartSSL in my own website and have never found any issue so far. In AWS SSL must be implemented at the Load Balancer level which will then forward unencrypted traffic to the Instances attached to it, this way EC2 doesn't have to process the certificate decryption overhead.
