Although we haven't worked with the new Raspberry PI devices yet, we have extensive working with similar boards and look forward to getting involved with them. We do have extensive experience working with Android OS and I have no doubt we will be able to provide a superb solution for your project. Speaking of which, let me be sure I understand what you are looking for. It sounds like you're going to use the video out from the rPI to generate some icons which will indicate to the user how many people are standing in front of it, and how close the closest person is. It looks like you'll want a few sounds played as well, perhaps whenever a change in the number of people detected occurs? This is all very feasible. The one catch, as I'm sure you've already discovered, is that there is not much in the way of existing support for the kinect for Android OS. I think you would be more likely to get a rapid and robust deployment using Linux and leveraging the amazing OpenNI library.

Does the comment about Linux mean you would accept a Linux application as opposed to an Android one? I have done some Kinect programming on Linux via the Python API.
