I've been a professional developer for more than a decade and have implemented in the past computer vision algorithms, like automatic number plate recognition, road features detection and so on, I've used OpenCV and also implemented other algorithms in C and C++. Because of that I think executing your project fits under what I have experience and would not have major problems. For face detection I think we could try implementing eigen-faces alongside with SVM, or some similar approach. Could you please answer some questions: 1) Can it be implemented using C++ or you really need it to be just plain C? 2) Can we use external libraries? (For example use LibSVM for the SVM implementation) 3) Do you want face detection only, or also face recognition?
