Hi: I have a predesigned proyect and all the things ready to start as this is quite an interesting proyect I had in mind since quite a while. I have a friend who works in this kind of things and is the future of power reading for electricity companies. Big contracts. I have located the stores where they sell the electronics around and some other required things online. But i have another cheaper idea in mind. GSM can make the meter way too expensive. I made a a realistic time bidding (could be more time to develop). Those bidding 15 days have no idea on what they are bidding.

I have experience on remote control via GSM / Ethernet / Wifi. 3 years ago i developed GENSET controller which contrallable from Smartphone via GSM network. I ue SIMCOM's SIM900 GPRS modem for this. Customer can see all value and contactor states from Embedded webserve. Also in warning case GENSET send an SMS an EMAIL.

This sounds like a fun and exciting project to work on!!! Several years ago I developed all the software and firmware for a PIC based (16c67) system connected to a GSM phone via RS232 connection. This was more of a portable POS system. The microprocessor received SMS messages from the phone, parsed it for commands and then carried them out and sent back responses to number stored on the device. I think using this as a base, I can shorten the development cycle. The firmware was written in Assembler but if you go to a newer chip, I can translate to C. I have tools and an environment that supports remote development and testing. I hope we can discuss further. Langston
