I hold a BA (Hons) in Government and Philosophy from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Non-Governmental Management from the Kenya Institute of Management and I am writing a project for a postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management studies at Kenyatta University. I am currently finalizing my thesis for a Master of Arts programme in Environmental planning and Management at the University of Nairobi. I am able to bring to any work over 12 years experience in research, programme/project identification, planning and implementation, community mobilization, communication and advocacy.
As a Research and Advocacy Officer with Pamoja Trust, I was instrumental in developing research methodology and applying it as well as creating a database of information, training enumerators, awareness creation, and developing linkages with various authorities on the communities Pamoja Trust worked in. I was able to generate intense interest from the informal settlements on the Trust’s work, which led to the rapid growth of the organization. I was also able to start a joint documentary of the slum dwellers Slum upgrading project with UN-Habitat.
This experience has been enhanced by my previous work for Research Solutions (K) Ltd and the Collaborative Climate Research Project between the University of Nairobi and Columbia University of New York.
I am currently working as a Programmes/Research Officer at the All Africa Conference of Churches. My work has including a number of surveys, programme conceptualization, designing and implementation alongside advocacy. I have also been instrumental in the development of communications to members and the general public as well as writing of speeches for policy makers. I am very instrumental in the development of Annual, Mid-year reports and activity/programmes evaluation reports for the organization. I have represented the CEO of the organization in various conferences and made presentations on behalf of the organization. At one point, I acted as the head of the communications department of the organization and remains a major player in the planning and development of programmes and plans for the organization.
I have also trained enumerators for field research work, taught English and History at secondary level, and organized workshops to disseminate as well as acquire information.
