I need someone who has experience with R, handling spatial data, is reasonable independent, and can do the following for me: I have data that comes with the geographical position of the location where the measurement was taken. You get the appropriate shape file and match the measurements to administrative units in the shapefile based on a reasonable criterion. This could be e.g. the distance to the nearest weatherstation, or an interpolation based on surrounding weatherstations. I am open for informed arguments about appropriate criteria here from people with lots of experience using spatial data. Furthermore, the data represent measurements over time at each location, and for each location, I need a preliminary analysis of the stability of the seasonal variation over time (this is independent of the matching). This preliminary analysis needs to come with a reproducable script since it will be the basis for further analysis later. R is the preferred language here. Stata is acceptable. I can provide data that comes from weatherstations. Better satelite data with more comprehensive coverage most certainly exists. If you find it and use it instead (each step must be reproducable), that would be a plus. For people trained in data analysis and spatial data handling, this is a trival task. I could do it within two or three days, but I have other things to do (for that reason, I need someone who does not need much "hand-holding", so independence is a valued trait). I think 50 USD is very reasonable. I would pay a premium for people who get the appropriate satelite data (need to be a very fine grid) on similar measurements, say 25 USD, which would make 75 USD. Please do not make an offer if you have barely ever worked with R or spatial data.

Hi, I can help you do this in R but I need some clarifications: You have shapefiles that are contiguous polygons (administrative units) that together form a region. You have the geo-positions, the x-y coordinates, of the weather stations in the region. The output you need is which weather station belongs to which sub-region/polygon? Right? Or maybe a map of the region with each of the weather stations embedded and labeled (if they are not very crowded)? For the stability issue, I assume you have say daily measurements of a particular quantity (e.g amount of rainfall) and you need to test statistically whether there is seasonality in the series? Clarify if am wrong, otherwise, send me the datasets so that I can work on this. I will use R. Kind regards.

I have sufficient experience in programming with R with special emphasis on dplyr and ggplot2. I have worked with spatial data too. However I need a clearer understanding. What are these special "units" in the shape file? Is the criteria for mapping given by you or has to be decided? How do you define seasonal stability? If you can provide further details, I would be able to help you.
