I need to solve these questions for Thermodynamic: 1. Saturated R-134a vapor at 60°C changes volume isothermally. Find the new pressure and quality (if saturated) if a. the volume doubles. b. the volume is halved. 2. Air in an automobile tire is initially at -20°C and 210 kPa gauge pressure. After the car is driven, the tire's temperature has increased to 15°C. Find the new gauge pressure. (Be careful with units!)

Hi, The first problem, you can use R134a tables properties: Answers: 1.a: Final pressure: 1010,62 kPA, (Superheated) 1.b: Final pressure: 1682,8 kPA, Quality: 45,5% (Saturated) The second problem, you can use the ideal gas equation to calculate the final pressure (Law Amonton): P2/P1 = T2/T1 Answer: P2=253,03 kPA (gauge)

Dear Mr Candidate requiring answers, your problem will require compression factor of R-134a vapors and in second problem will require data on expansion of rubber tube in the car tyre. these data once searched or received, your problem will be solved in a very small time. I shall be very interested to solve such problems in future also as I have taught thermodynamics to Engineering Students for more than 10 yrs. I am providing my brief introduction as follows: I have B. Tech. ( Chemical Engg.) from HBTI Kanpur, M. Tech. (Chemical Engg.) form IIT Kanpur and PH. D. from University of Wollongong, Wollongong, N.S.W. Australia and have been recipient of National Scholarship, Government of India and Post Graduate Award by Australian Iron & Steel, Port Kembla, NSW Australia. I worked with Indian Explosives Ltd (Sister Concern of ICI, UK), Kanpur, manufacturing Urea and with Australian Iron & Steel, Port Kembla, NSW Australia towards development of a model for charging of burden material in Bell less Blast furnace No. 5 for their plant. I studied in detail mixing and segregation of particulate matter in my working model of Bell less blast furnace and in prototype of actual blast furnace using various techniques including high speed photography. I developed techniques to take representative sample from prototype model. The sample weight ranged up to 2 tons. I also worked with Nirma Group of Industries towards process improvement and waste reduction and good housekeeping practice
