AS3 Load Function From DB Field

I have a datagrid in Flex (coding is in AS3) that populates via an array from mysql. I have a field for functions that I would like to include, so that I can do different things like change view state, run a popup, show a transition - whatever - when the user clicks on a certain row. I cannot figure out how to get the functions to load properly from my onClick event, which already runs whenever a row in the datagrid is selected.
