I registered with Freelancer in February this year and have 30 reviews, all positive. English is my first language and my skills include transcribing, technical writing, editing and proofreading. I have worked with individual clients to bring 12 books to publication and three of these clients have rehired me to work on a second book. The process for your project really depends on the content of the audio but I would approach it by transcribing the file first, though not necessarily verbatim (i.e. leaving out anything that is obviously not material for the book) and then paraphrasing from the transcript. I would provide you with both the transcript and the "book" version, so that you would be able to check that I have included all the material you would want for the book. I have done similar work to this: I have transcribed eight interviews to be collated into a book, editing them as I transcribed, and once a month I transcribe the audio recording of a meeting, from which I then then create minutes. I have also transcribed several sermons, editing as I go, and a number of conferences, tidying up the material as I transcribe, according to "conference style". This latter work has been for DTI (Document Technologies Inc.) the company for which I have been transcribing for 15 years.

Hi, I prefer paraphrasing the audio. That is much quicker and better. I have done a summary of Oscar Wilde's, The Importance of Being Earnest before. My English skills are great so you need not to worry. I am also a keen listener. I will charge 120USD for paraphrasing. If you want the exact words, I will charge 170 USD. However, I have two questions. While paraphrasing, do you need a summary or capture the outline and second question, when do you want the work ready/What's the time limit? You want me to transcribe 60 min audio and then summarize into 2000 words, or atlast 20% shrink, this is tough, I can transcribe the audio to you, in $200 as it is on audio, and will proof read it for errors, rest you can handle thaks

I've been working on a similar project over the course of the last nine months. I'm writing a book of profiles of businessmen, with the bulk of the content coming from audio interviews. For each profile, I transcribe between 30 and 120 minutes of audio, then work with the transcript to condense, shape and rewrite it into a 1,000-word biographical profile.
