Customize XPI file of a Firefox Extension

I need to modify the XPI of the Firefox extension HotspotShield. The extension creates a VPN connection between the browser and it's servers, but by default it needs to be activated every time the browser launches with a couple clicks. I need the HospotShield VPN connection to be activated automatically when the browser starts.
