I have been using python/sqlalchemy for a while now. I am familiar with alembic to upgrade/downgrade databases if necessary. I am also familiar with unittests to test applications on a regular basis. If tables are simple and have no back-references, etc, this project should not take long to complete.

I have worked with Python 2.7 and MySQL many times over the years. I am comfortable with both Cent OS and Ubuntu linux. I’ve used Matlab in the past and had fun with it, but it has been awhile. My code always follows PEP8 and has unit tests and a database schema versioning tool. The database tool is very important as the application grows, which sounds important to you. Often I would choose Django + south, but happy to use something else like Mezzanine to keep everything simple and Pythonic.

Hello, I never shy away from an opportunity for an interesting job like this - I always seek to expand my knowledge. That being said, I do not have current knowledge on how to specifically accomplish this job. You will not likely want me to be the one to do it; I have good Python knowledge but minimal MySQL knowledge, however both are installed and configured on my system (Windows). If you are willing I would love to play with the sample data in order to learn more about the interfaces between the two, and essentially accomplish your project as a learning endeavor. This applies whether you would want me on the project or not. I would be willing to learn it and stay on board for future endeavors, but be mindful that I already have a full-time job.. I do these for fun, learning and some extra money. My feelings will not be hurt if you choose another freelancer, but again if you are willing I would love to learn this project. Jake

I just write a atmospheric observation website using mysql and python in linux system, which runs totally automatically. I use bash shell to download the atmospheric observation data automatically from ftp, and use python to write and read the data into/from mysql. The data in mysql database is updated automatically every day ( or minutes if you want). Finally, the data is plotted by python to show on the website based on web user's input parameters. Also, I have used matlab for 3 years to do my research, I think it's the job I can do. Thanks.
