Advise needed on a simple ASP.Net and VB.Net DB Programming

We are looking for someone who can advise the best practice(s) for database programming in MS Visual Studio 2005 and 2008.

We would like to develop applications on ASP.Net and VB.Net. We have a Microsoft Access Database. Typically, there are many tables and relations. Visual Studio provides us with facilities such as DataGrids and its different views. There are datasets, etc.

We just want to know, what the best methodology is to develop a database application on MS .Net and what the main steps are.

We want coders to advice us with steps of implementing it.

We don't have a problem with standalone tables (or simple SQL queries). However, if there are "JOIN" queries involved, we don't know how to implement and utilize gridview, etc. In other words, we want someone to give us advises on using standard components (such as datagrid)? when multiple tables are involved. We will ask for a very small application (both VB.NET and ASP.NET) demonstrating the approach.

## Deliverables

We will give you a database containing the following tables and fields:

1. Contractors: ContractorID, Name

2. Projects: ProjectID, Name

3. InvolvedIn: ContractorID, ProjectID, Share

Obviously, "InvolvedIne" table is the relationship table that relates many records from "Contractors" table to "Projects" table.

We want you to demonstrate updating/listing these tables through the components provided by Microsoft Visual Studio. We want you to advise the best practice(s) for implementing this. For example, GridView already has "enable editing", "enable selection", etc. functions when one table is involved. But if there is a query that selects records from multiple tables, we couldn't figure out how to do by existing components.

We want to be able to? display this information in a grid as follows:

Your Corporation - Construction - 90

Your Corporation - Maintenance - 30

My Corporation - Construction - 5

My Corporation - Maintenance - 40

Any Company - Construction - 5

Any Company - Maintenance - 30

So far it's easy. But we want to enable updating, selecting and deleting functions to be enabled on the same view.
