I have an application written in VB 6 that I need converted to ASP or ASP.Net.
Here’s what it does:
1. Loads a list of dates from a text file. These dates are Holidays.
2. Checks to see if the current day of the week is Sunday.
3. Logs into a password protected website.
4. Parses through the HTML to locate a specific field that identifies the date of the page.
5. If the page is current, the rest of the page is parsed for specific information which is incorporated to a web page and this webpage is uploaded to my website via FTP. The process is now done for the day and will not be repeated for 24 hours.
6. If the page is not current, it checks back in 30 min. and repeats steps 3 - 5 until the process is complete or a maximum of 8 hours.
Knowing holidays and Sundays will allow the application to determine if the page it is checking is current since this is stock market related data.
The plan is to have this ASP script triggered by a CronJob or similar scheduler.
The VB source code is attached to this bid request.
In essence the script will access a web page, check to see if the data is current, scrape some data, and format and write the data to my site.
