I run a very busy website with lots of activity on WP using slightly customized Twenty Eleven theme. Because I did customizations directly to the theme files, they get overwritten when there is an update to the theme. I would like to hire someone who could create a proper child theme of Twenty Eleven that would utilize all my tweaks, fix a few problems with further customization and make the theme BuddyPress compatible so it works fully with the latest version of BP. My website is perused by over hundred thousand unique people a day and experiences a lot of activity with more than 500 comments made each day. As such, I would need someone who's not gonna screw a perfectly working website up as that would have a negative impact on my community. Also, you would need to agree to milestone payments arrangements with a significant portion to be paid no sooner than a month after completion in order to make sure the theme does not contain bug that won't surface immediately. Lastly, you must be willing to work pursuant to the US work for hire laws, whereby all rights for the work will be relinquished in favor of buyer. That means - you are compensated with money, but I take all the credit for the product so you won't be able to claim authorship or use the product in any way yourself.
