I need a DNS, openSUSE, Samba guru, because I have a problem, where I do not find a solution. I guess this is due to my limited knowledge on DNS.
I have a Thecus N5200 NAS device (<[login to view URL]>). This device is capable joining a Windows NT-Domain. This NT domain is setup and it works pretty well. Actually, I was able to join the domain with the NAS storage approx. 1 year ago and it worked. Unfortunately, I did not write down all steps that I did. But I can remember that I had to setup a DNS on my linux server and then it worked. DNS is somehow strange to me and even after trying several hours I do not find a solution to do it.
I need someone to manage getting that NAS device joining my NT-Domain.
I have the following IT infrastructure:
- DSL modem ZyXEL
- UNEX router
The network runs perfectly for several years already. So, there is surely no problem.
- OpenSuse 10.2 linux server acting as SAMBA Windows Primary Domain Controller
- Thecus N5200 NAS device
Further details on the configuration (domain names, ip addresses, config files etc. can be provided later on).
What is expected:
- Setup DNS properly
- Manage to join the NAS device into my Windows Domain
