I would like to have software which will allow me to utilize satellite imagery (from google earth), AS WELL AS, AERIAL photos (from sites such as [login to view URL]) and be able to determine ROOF PITCH, and to scale the roof measurement. I already know how to find the predetermined length to set my software scale (ie; measuring a 3 foot sidewalk, or a standard 16 foot driveway)... I just need to be able to use these images to click and drag on roof top ridges, hips, gables, eaves, etc etc.
You do not have to know about roofing to make this software work. I just need the ability to upload/import a photo... set my scale.... and then pull measurements accurately. My biggest challenge is account for the proper roof pitch. Having an incorrect roof pitch will completely ruin any results obtained. This is why you can not simply use google earth..... it does not account for pitch. Even if you CAN determine pitch from "GUESSING" by visually looking at the street level view... it's still a guess. And a guess on a large scale project is a huge disaster waiting to happen. I need precise roof pitch. Once this measurement has been obtained... I need it to render a 3d view of the roof plane only.
I'll attach a copy of another company doing the same thing.... I just can't determine the type of software they are using to obtain these results. Can anyone help? (Attached is a PDF of a report in which I would like to recreate.)
