Redirect Links from an old Sub-Domain to a Completely Different Site (Media Temple)

I have a site that used to have a subdomain with a cart function. We no longer have the cart function in the subdomain so I need to redirect the old links to the new cart. This is not a complete domain or subdomain redirect. Old links need to be redirected to new links (on a different server). I think this will be done via .htaccess file with directional scripts. It should be very easy for anyone that knows how to do this type of work. I will not release funds until the links are redirecting and I understand the script so I can add more if necessary.
