Corrupt .pst file import

Hi - Tried opening Outlook - got Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)". So - i backed up my old .pst file and renamed it to old.pst. I opened outlook and as it couldnt find my .pst file, it asked me to create a new one. I now need to repair my old .pst file and import its data to my new .pst file. I need you to help me do this as everytime i try to do this - the pc hangs and i need to do a reboot. Please bid sensibly. :)
