Hi, I fully understand your requirement. Can I suggest something of my own? Instead of using an API (script as you mentioned) why not link the website to the backend database directly? I can make the website to communicate directly with your existing database without changing anything in it. With that being said, I can also make it through API (script) too. I shall first define a set of RESTfull APIs which shall be called for communicating with the backend database. The website shall not have database connectivity at all. Rather it shall call relevant API to communicate with backend database. The website can be hosted anywhere and the API needs to be hosted on backend database server though it should be accessible by the website too so it needs to be online too. About me: I am a PHP and eCommerce expert. I have built over 150 eCommerce sites in past 8 years. I have used all existing scripts and worked on custom coding too.
