We want to add a new deck to the house and need architectural / engineer approved drawings to submit for a permit. The existing 2nd story deck is 4' x 31'. The new deck will be 10' x 31', plus a set of stairs to a lower landing, then a 2nd set of steps to the ground, where there will be added decking at ground level around the end of the house and encompassing a new swim spa being installed. We have uploaded a picture of the existing deck. The new deck will have the stairs at the other end, in front of the fireplace, and then encompass what is the blue deck in the photo with some changes in the layout, of which we can provide a detailed drawing of what is desired. The existing deck is cantilevered out over 4' beams from the house. We want to new deck to use these beams, plus new joist, with as few post as possible for support to minimize the disruption to the view from below the deck. The new deck, stairs and lower landing between the sets of steps will have a cable railing system. Deck surface with be Trex. We will need drawings with an engineers approval to submit to Island County for permits. We can provide the site plan as required, along with any other measurements needed to complete the project.
I think the work can be remote. I believe I can provide all the information needed. I do not believe there is anything specific to Island County. They use the 2018 IRC building code, but for a deck, I believe the requirements are all pretty standard.
We did not have a specific time frame, except we would like to have this step completed in the next few weeks so we can submit for a permit
