It is necessary to write a program code for fully automatical "splicing" several point clouds files, which are 3d-scans of the object at different angles (in ply format).
As a result of the program, a PLY file must be obtained with a completely reconstructed object. The testing of the program is carried out on the example of the Stendford's rabbit files: [login to view URL]
The program can be written in any language, including MatLab. As the basis, the ICL / NDT algorithm (or any other) and the ready-made Point Cloud Library or Computer Vision System Tollbox in MatLab can be used.
The main requirement for the program: the assembly must be done automatically, there should not be any preliminary "manual" alignment of the scans, i.e. The process should be fully automated and run on any set of scans.
The one who successfully cope with this task would be involved in the next stage of a large project for 3d-images processing.
