We have a contacts management system built using MS SQL Server. Several occassions
we have to import bulk data into it from CSV or similar type files.
The names of persons & companies are generally misspelled or are written in different ways that makes a successful import very challenging due to finding a suitable match.
It results in multiple/duplicate entries for persons & companies. There is a SQL table for each of them. We have tried to use MS SQL Full text search and that is inadequate.
Need you to provide a smart import utility that will figure out the persons & companies names
& find a match under different scenarioes like misspellings or different versions of the names. If a match is not found, then a new record(s) will be added.
More like Google or Bing search of a name.
The smarts may need to be used at query submission as well as with results of query. If you have a better mousetrap, suggest it. We shall share the database
schema with shortlisted candidates & let them requote if necessary. We need you to supply this utility with VB or C#, with full source code & any dependencies.
The source will have to be provided to us every other day on progressive basis.

There should be a way to add a single entry like using the mobile apps, which imports contacts from a business card. Some way, other than just linking the fields (which is ok for bulk import), to import single contacts , let us say from an e-mail message.
