Porting a virtual pixel method from ImageMagick to Matlab

The following is part of a non-commercial art project!

The task is the porting the virtual pixel (vp) method ([login to view URL] ) named „tile“ from ImageMagick to Matlab.

The image examples of the conformal map shell script in [login to view URL] shows this exemplary: the black parts in the output images are the pixels that are not mapped by any pixels from the input picture. They are exchanged by repeated and transformed pixel sets by the vp method „tile“ (no further understanding of the shell script is needed because it only generates an ImageMagick call with the vp option).

A simplified m-file (R2016b) with a conformal map deformation of images (without imtransform) is available and the task is to integrate the tile vp function to get this effect from the shell script (or the conformal map deformation filter of G'MIC [login to view URL] with the boundary condition „mirror“).

Ideally the first step would be the writing of some pseudo-code from the ImageMagick source code to get a sufficient understanding of the tile vp method. From that efficient Matlab (vectorized) code should be programmed.

The related C++ open source code of the ImageMagick method is freely available in [login to view URL]; see the TileVirtualPixelMethod line 2861 and the function GetVirtualPixelsFromNexus() line 2496.
