Drupal mobile site: simplify purchase process

We have an ecommerce mobile website written in php using a drupal-ubercart platform. It's not a straight-out-of-the-box drupal site -- it has some customization.

We are simplifying the process of adding the main item (a bag) to the cart, by not requiring that the customer select an option ("Type of straps") within the attribute "Straps". Now we offer only one type of straps, so there is no need for customer to select it. The problem is that the add to cart button expects that option to be selected. When adding the main product to the cart, a message says: "Please select type of straps". So, we must either program the type of straps as permanently selected, or remove the requirement from the add to cart button. Simply marking the Straps attribute as "not required" in Admin didn't solve the problem. I'm sure it's a simple fix, but currently beyond our capacity.

For a good php-drupal programmer, there will be other improvements we want to make to this website.
