He is a former President of the Shura Council of Islamic Organizations in NYC as well as the founding, and now the outgoing, President of the North American Imams Federation. Sheikh is a member of Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America (AMJA) and of Islamic Council of Yemen. Moreover, he is the former Executive Director of the Texas Islamic Council (T.I.C.)
