Design a Logo for Cornish Paranormal Research

I represent a small, not-for-profit research group called Cornish Paranormal Research. We are currently overhauling over public image and part of that is we wish to commission a new logo.
We are a serious research group, not a ghost-hunting events company, dedicated to investigating alledged paranormal activity and any logo should reflect that. We are not however, serious to the point of dour, and any logo needs to have some fun element to it. If it can also, in some way, represent Cornwall then that would be the complete package.
Our 'colors' are blue, yellow and white (specifically #009199, #FFCB05 and #FFFFFF) with the emphasis on the blue and the white together over the yellow.
