Below is a sample of my work.
Rajon Rondo’s debut as a Dallas Maverick was impressive, facing the San Antonio Spurs at home in front of a raucous 20,504 spectators. Heading into the game the Dallas Mavericks had a 19-8 record, while the San Antonio Spurs sported a 17-10 record. Rondo’s numbers were solid across the board. He grabbed 7 rebounds, 6 points, 9 assists and had a 17 plus/minus, a statistical measure that evaluates a team’s performance when a certain player is on or off the court. His total was the highest out of any player in the game. Throughout the game Rondo kept his poise and didn’t let any outside distractions throw him off his game; he was a leader on the court and on the bench. Although he didn’t shoot the ball particularly well, just going 3 for 11 from the field, his presence on the court was definitely felt and helped steer the Dallas Mavericks in the right direction against the defending champions San Antonio Spurs. Dallas Maverick shooting guard Monte Ellis stated, “I can just run out, and he can hit me, and then we can get into the open floor of the game.” Ellis had a season high 38 points on 15 of 23 shooting from the field, 3 out of Rondo’s 9 assists were to Monte Ellis. “We both like to dominate the ball, but I think we played well off each other tonight”, Rondo expressed to the media after the victorious effort. Rondo was able to get his teammates involved early in the game, obtaining 5 assists at the half.
