I need a Mac application where I could:

- import an image (or better yet, capture directly from USB camera/microscope)

- calibrate the scale (we could simply use an image of a ruler for that)

- place pins/markers on the image (by clicking the mouse)

The app should be able to calculate the density of the pins and give a measurement, for example "90 pins / square centimeter".

Please see the attached images (one is sample pin placement, the other one is sample scale calibration).
