About Medanta The Medicity Gurugram
Medanta (also know as The Medicity) is one of India's largest and most prestigious multi-super-specialty medical institutes. Spread across forty-three acres in Gurgaon NCR, it houses 1,250 beds and over 350 critical care beds, with 45 operation theatres. The hospital was founded in 2009 by the renowned cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Naresh Trehan. It is located in Gurgaon, which is originally part of The National Capital Region. Originally known as an institute specializing in cardiology, presently the hospital has thirty-two institutions, departments, and division that cater to over twenty specialties. The hospital has a big library, open around the clock, with more than 2500 books, 700 online journals, and thesis, for medical doctors, nurses, and other paramedical staffs.
The hospital was born in 2009 from the vision that first came to Dr. Naresh Trehan while practicing at the NYU Medical Center in the USA. For every thousand Indian patients he treated there, another thousand couldn’t even afford to fly down. That’s when Dr. Naresh Treshan realized that India needed to have an advance multispecialty medical institution of its own. He dreamed an institution which will not only treat, but train and innovate, too; all this while providing international standards of technology, infrastructure, clinical care, and a fusion of traditional Indian and advanced medicine at one-tenth the cost.
