Rhino + Grasshopper + Rendering + Adobe

Megan Geckler Studio is an artist-run studio operating out of Los Angeles. We make large-scale site-specific installation artworks out of a variety of materials including flagging tape (construction tape / PVC film), rope, aluminum, and others. Our clients include museums and galleries as well as corporations and cities around the world.

We use Rhino, Grasshopper, and Brazil (you can render in another program) in conjunction with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create visual aids, proposals, and presentations.

Applicants must have experience in the following areas:

- Reading construction documents and building Rhino models from them

- Using Grasshopper to create mathematic shapes and patterns, adjusting density of designs, and changing color, among other functions.

- Creating custom materials

- Following a project from modeling, to lighting and environment setup, rendering, through to Photoshop image manipulation

- Rendering (We use Brazil, you don’t have to)

- Organized, excellent file and layer management, attention to detail

- Excellent communication skills in English (other languages a plus)

- Excellent project management, experience meeting benchmark deadlines

- Using Excel and/or Google Sheets for data management

Other desirable skills:

- Understanding and interest in the fields of fine art and/or design

- Interest in mathematics – algebra, trigonometry, etc.

- Freedom to travel internationally, must have passport

- Engineering knowledge, building skills, hands on art and/or design skills

- Scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks

This is a part-time / freelance position.
