Debt Collection Platform

Background We are a law firm specialising in strata law. We exist to protect and enhance individual rights, property values and harmony in strata communities. We use Macs and all of our IT platforms are web based: Google mail, Basecamp, Highrise, FreshBooks, Saasu, Dropbox, MailChimp, Facebook, Twitter, GoTo and Wikispaces. We have 15 employees. Four of our team work remotely and specialise in debt collection. Objective We would like to build an in-house debt collection platform that is web based and accessible via any browser. The platform will have a client access portal to specific read only information. At a later date we will incorporate the debt collection software into an overriding piece of practice management software yet to be created. Phase one Build a private web based service where we can enter debt collection data and generate forms (Word/PDF): Access for a single user with one login Data entered for populating fields and stored as an electronic filing system Word and PDF documents to be generated by the system for printing Time We acknowledge that the most time consuming parts will be: Building the user interface to enter the data Generating of the forms from templates Assuming feedback and changes we estimate this will take one person two weeks to complete. Phase two Access for multiple users with individual logins Debt recovery lifecycle timeline Reminders Email messaging Time Assuming feedback and changes we estimate this will take one person an additional two weeks to complete. Open source framework Platform to be built using one of the following: Ruby on Rails Django (Python) Grails; or Yii (Php framework) We welcome queries and discussion about our requirements.
