Project Description:
We are looking for a developer or development team with specific experience to assist in the development of a price comparison search aggregation engine. The objective is to create a site that will compare the prices of items from numerous online retailers.
It's essential you have previous experience with this type of project and can show examples of similar work. Please do not bid if you don't have a site you can reference.
We are looking to build an on going relationship with future updates, new features and functionality added as the site grows.
Requirements:
The site is to be based on Wordpress CMS. All code to be developed in this project must integrate with the provided Wordpress template and all backend settings must be built in the format of a Wordpress plugin.
Users will search for products, and results will be displayed from a number of retailers ranked in order of cheapest to most expensive. The user will then be able to filter the search items by retailer, country/region, price range, brand, product category. Search results will include: product name, product image, description of product, price, shipping price (if available), retailer, as well as the ability to add the following possible fields: retailer rating and product rating.
Users will be able to add products to a ‘wishlist’ and save them for future searches.
The wordpress plugin will require the following settings to control the front end:
Ability to add retailer accounts and manage all aspects of this
Ability to enable or disable a retailers products from displaying in search results.
A file upload function to upload RSS/ XML feeds of products provided to us by e retailers.
Set URL for scanning and pulling product listings into our system.
View reports and metrics on search activity and filter by retailer, country and time period or a combination of these.
Show various metrics for a given time period (day,week,month, year)
Search results, product clicks etc will need to be tracked to generate metrics and data.
Database architecture and process automation will be a very important considerations for this project as the database will need to update the product listings on a regular basis and refresh the product records accordingly.
All data imported into our system must be SEO optimised with the ability to add/edit additional metadata if necessary (page titles, keywords etc.)
The finished website design/script will be owned by us. All code written must not violate any copyrights, patents, etc. You must also provide documentation detailing the database architecture, API developement and implementation.
More indepth specifications will be given on project commencement.
Once a user clicks a product from the search results, they will be redirected to the specific product page on the retailers website, where they can complete the purchase. We do not make any sales on our site.
