Re-Design High Traffic Blog with focus on UI

We are looking for a top notch designer who has experience with popular blogs to re-work Dj [login to view URL] from the ground up. Dj TechTools is a high traffic website which started as a blog and has now become a destination site for Digital Djs. The goal is to re-engineer the landing page so that its more effective for the users and communicates a more professional presentation.
The project would include:
* Looking at web traffic patterns and usage patterns to identify areas of improvement that can be made to the User Interface and work flow.
* Re-designing the landing page to increase surface area and depth of navigation so readers can find more content easily.
* The new design would move away from the traditional 2 column blog layout and into a more modern magazine layout with scrolling headers and better navigation features. (something similar to engadget or [login to view URL])
* This will be a fully custom design with several iterations
* The site is built on and will remain on WordPress
* The emphasis on this re-design is on usability and function, with a lighter focus on aesthetic design
The Designer Must Have:
* Extensive experience with Wordpress, PHP,
* Experience with high traffic blogs and user pattern analysis (examples of designs executed for popular/trafficed sites are required!)

Its important to note that this project requires design and development of the wordpress theme.
Please provide 1 or 2 good examples of high traffic sites you have worked on, with general traffic numbers if possible. Sites in the 100-600k unique range are what we are looking for.
