Simulation of Wireless Sensor Networks with VisualSense.
Experiment with and develop an educational lab suite for wireless sensor networks in VisualSense, a modelling and simulation framework designed to support a component-based construction of models.
Target of the project is to design and produce a lab sheet that would guide the students to perform simulation on wireless sensor networks using VisualSense. VisualSense is a wireless sensor simulator that enables the user to test and perform a various number of scenarios using ad-hoc networking protocols, localization strategies, media access control protocols, energy consumption etc. The user should use the different components and models provided by VisualSense and test these under various circumstances such as varying number of nodes, different topologies and using different network characteristics. The students will gather the results and should be able to compare them according to certain parameters such as network delay, QoS, network failures, battery consumption and error recovery, etc. After the completion of the lab sheet, students should understand how these parameters are affected from the circumstances described above.
VisualSense is an extension of the discrete-event modeler of Ptolemy II.
It's a visual editor and simulator for wireless sensor network systems.
