Create a Lengthy WordPress Timeline Updatable from an Excel File

I want to create a multicategory, multi-year timeline to insert into the website [login to view URL] stretching out yearly to, say, 2050 and featuring multiple categories, such as (first category) 'carbon trading,' 'solar energy,' 'wind energy,' 'nuclear,' geothermal,' as well as by (second category) country: 'Australia,' 'China,' 'US' and (third category) the year in which they may occur. I may like to expand these categories with time....
The problems are (I think) is that timelines have been developed for just a few entries, and are buggy and crash. The idea above may be impossible, but ideally I'd like to have updatable by me (a non HTML guy) from a, say, minimum three category .XLS file (year, category, country) with each timeline entry clicking to a landing page with images and URLs of related content to that three-item combination (say 2020, nuclear, Australia).
From what I've been told, bloated timelines can crash. However, I'd like a see if the clever minds of freelancers can surmount this hurdle. Can do?
