Hi, my name is Julien and I'm the General Manager of Modulo Language School.
We're interested in designing a one-page language proficiency test for our students to use online.
What?
A pretty simple project: The student will be presented with up to 40 questions, one at a time. Results will be displayed ont the page after the test, with an option to forward the result to an email address. We already have a bank of 120 questions, as well as 4 mutliple-choice answers for each and a solution key.

We are in the process of redesigning our website, based on a responsive HTML5 template and would like the test to blend in accordingly. You can have an idea of the look and feel needed here: [login to view URL]
How?
- There are 12 levels, and 10 questions per level.
- The first step is at level 1. The learner is presented with a (ideally random) question from the pool of 10 questions. If the answer is correct, a question is asked from the level 2 pool. If incorrect, another question is asked from the level 1 pool.
- Everytime an answer is correct, the level goes up by 1. Every time it is wrong, it goes down by 1. (Min 1, Max 12, of course)
- Through the test, the app keeps track of the number of questions and the number of right answers for each level.
- The test finishes when either:
1) 40 questions have been asked
2) 10 questions from a pool have been asked.
- At the end of the test, to series of results are displayed:
1) The levels with the most and second most number of questions asked (lower level first in case of a tie)
2) The levels with the most and second most number of correct answers (sorted from low to high in case of a tie)
Example:
Questions:
Most asked: Level 3
Second most asked: Level 4
Correct:
Most correct: Level 2
Second most correct: Level 3
- Notes: When randomly selecting a question, there must be a check to ensure the question wasn't asked yet, using a boolean variable for each question. There also need to be counter variables for questions asked/correct asnwers per level, both for limiting the questions to 10 per level and stopping the test if 10 per level were asked or if. Finally, there needs to be a total questions variable to stop the quiz at 40 questions.
Optional: a graphical representation of the results would be great but not absolutely necessary.

I guess it can be done in PHP but it could also be done as a .net app, I guess.
