Payment Gateway for Laravel Website

I have a website developed in Laravel. I want to integrate a additional payment gateway to the website.
We need to ensure that , this modification doesn't affect the update provided by the original developer. I mean , even if he release new update we should be able to update the site hassle free with your modification in it.
Payment Gateway will be used for
1) making payments
2) withdrawing payments
3) refund
