Objectives
To Design an optimal PV Power System for a remote Area near the town of Arar in Saudi Arabia.
Introduction
The general objective of the project is assessing the economics of supplying power to remote locations in the kingdom.
Project Tasks
A PV power system comprises of two sources such PV and Diesel generators.
Task 1: Search the internet for a project of similar characteristics and document the main features in your report.
Task 2: Project Data and Resources
2.1 use the internet to obtain the radiation data for Arar area.
2.2 Import the hourly load data and analyze the load characteristics
Task 3: Resources: Select the suitable size of resources: diesel generator, PV panels, and converters.
Task 4 System Studies
1. Study the power system and its economics using conventional Diesel generators only.
2. Study the power system and its economics using conventional PV system only.
3. Study the power system and its economics using conventional Diesel and PV system.
Task 5: System Analysis
Analyze and compare the results of task 4.
Task 5: Conclusions and Recommendations
Software
The use of the software HOMER is encouraged. But other software is accepted.
Report
a. Prepare your report in a tabulated form along with detailed text to explain and discuss the results.
b. Your report should contain introduction, details of the calculations, conclusions and any references.
