project is for ‘Revolution Films’ and their new movie ‘Space War’. Space Warfrom the outset has been a high investment project for Revolution Films as apart from the film itself there are many spin-offs which include a successful cartoon, video games, toy figures and spaceships, and other merchandising. A bit about the film itself – Space War is a £70 million block buster based on the invasion of Earth by an alien race (the Giganti) and its superior technology. The film is set in 2014 and begins with the aliens attacking China, Russia, and rapidly occupying most of Asia before stopping at the edge of Europe. Despite a combined resistance from earth the invasion has been rapid taking just 3 days. The reason the aliens have stopped is to offer the surviving humans a chance to surrender before a second attack would commence. The film ends at this point as there is to be a sequel where earth attempts to repel the invasion. In terms of technology key elements of the invasion force are – • Xarky Storm Attack craft – spacecraft equivalent to advanced jet fighters being 5 metres in length. • Coven Command Bases – These are large space battle stations that are used to launch attacks on earth. These measure around 2 miles in length. Housed here are the Xarky Storm Attack craft, battle robots, robot drones and the aliens themselves. Earths defences • Earth has access to only conventional ships and aircraft carriers, planes, helicopters, and missiles. As a designer you have been asked to create for the above film scenario the following media resources and application – • You need to create to your own specification a model of a battle robot that could appear in the film. • You must create an alien spacecraft to your own design that could be used in the invasion of Earth.
