I'm a mechanical engineer - specialized in the industrial robotic field, 3D designer and modeler (from time to time and some projects I could make the functional prototype too). I'm doing product design, industrial design, reverse engineering, ideation, etc. I have over 15 years experience working on various systems/devices across multiple industries, from concept to launch. 1 - as per your request, this bid is for the concept - how the mechanism will work, what will need, how to grab the ball, etc... - for the full design we could discuss later 2 - as you probably are aware, besides the ball and tape coil supports, the mechanism will require a turning feature (to uniformly cover the ball) and a "flattener" to deal with the edges of the tape (btw - seen this is a re-post of the project. the first time i didn't consider it, thinking is not to go to an end...:( ) Regards Bogdan

Hi. I have an idea for that process. We may roll the ball by four wheels and two of them will have different diameters. While rolling it around X axis, the difference between the diameters will rotate the ball a bit around Y axis at every turn. So the tape will cover all the surface of the ball. There should be also two wheels more, which applies the proper pressure onto the tape for good stick. That device will be hand operated and it will be very compact. I can design that device for you.
