To whom it may concern,
I am writing in response to your request for a native Spanish speaking translator.
I currently work for the charity sector in the UK as a freelance translator for major faith-based International Development NGO, CAFOD (UK chapter member of Caritas Internationalis).
The commissioned work have been unique addressing a different topic each and requiring from me a well-rounded general culture.
So far I have translated the following types of documents:
- Corporate Social Responsibility/ Public Relations documents. To support Civil Society and Human Rights partner organisations in the Andes Region.
- Legal and technical documents. To support Civil Society and Human Rights partner organisations in Central America.
- Pastoral letters with theological and social science content.
- Other miscellaneous translations.
As you might notice from my resume, my rich professional experience in Panama and the United Kingdom has allowed me to acquire knowledge of different subjects such as architecture, civil engineering, urban planning, geography, economic development and public policy and other related subjects.
So far, as you might verify through my Linked In account references my performance and outputs as a translator have been well regarded.
The topics have been varied and I have demonstrated the utmost attention to detail to the extent of researching on the topics being translated from the best sources available in order to convey the most useful and precise meaning and not simply transliterating.
My writing style has been polished thanks to my experience as an article writer in both English and Spanish. You can access samples of my written work also through my Linked-In account or simply searching my name Carlos Antonio Solis-Tejada on any search engine.
I hold an MSc in Urbanisation and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science where I did my masters dissertation research on the Social Right to Housing in Cuba. I also hold a degree in Architecture from the University of Panama.
I have previous work experience with content management software updating the website of the Latin America International Affairs Programme at international relations think-tank LSE Ideas using CMS Contensis and working the graphic aspects with Photoshop.
I can translate an average of 1000 words per a 4 hour working day depending on the complexity of the subject. For highly technical language I can deliver 700 words per 4 hour working day.
Due to the complexities of transcribing from an audio format work could take a bit longer but as usual I do my best to deliver as soon as possible.
If possible, I would love the chance to be interviewed for this job at your earliest convenience to further discuss my credentials with you.
I feel confident that when we meet and speak together you will see why I believe I am the right person for this job.
Best Regards,
Carlos Antonio Solis-Tejada
