* Need to connect to a remote SQL Server 2000 behind a router.
Tested as follows with no success so far:
At SQL Server, firewall turned off and TCP port changed to 1444
At client workstation(Xp) on the same LAN, tried to register a new server with Enterprise Manager with the server name as [url removed, login to view],1444 where xxx.. is the public IP of the LAN.
Set the DMZ server of the router to [url removed, login to view], which is the internal IP of the SQL Server.
Enterprise Manager registered successfully and displayed an icon for the server, but was never able connect to the server, displaying an error message:
"connection could not be established to [url removed, login to view],1444.
Reason: SQL server does not exist or access denied
………………"
> User ID/Password should not be a problem as I used sa for testing.
