I have an application that I need made into a single MSI File that can be sent out to client computers on the network. The MSI needs to be compatible on Windows Server OS as this software is for school networks.

The software consists of an exe and a folder of data files (screenshot attached). I would also like to include a Registry Key for the software licence that is installed in HKLM on all client computers.

-Modifying an existing configuration XML file

In the software data files there is a configuration XML file (screenshot attached) that configures where user data is stored. Currently the user will opens the file and edits the location path in the XML file to their chosen location. Currently this needs to be done on each computer manually after installation; however I would like this to be part of the installation/network configuration process.

I would appreciate advice as to whether it is possible to add a step in the MSI process that lets the user input the path of where they would like their data stored on a user friendly interface and this passes the input and modifies the XML in the background and saves it. The XML must maintain the current structure (as below) and only modify the path according to the input. If nothing is inputted or is incorrect the XML will just stay unmodified and the software will store user data in its default location.

After this configuration window the network administrator can then deploy the MSI out to the school network.

Please let me know if this custom feature is possible in your bid.

This is only a very small project for now,however in the next few months I may require further customisation of the installer.
