Appen develops high quality speech and language technology solutions namely used in car navigation systems, mobile phones, word processing packages, directory assistance, speaker verification tools and hand-held machine translation devices. Our staff comprises Linguists, IT professionals and Project Managers who collaborate to produce quality work in over 100 different languages for many of the world's leading companies.
Appen is currently conducting a speech technology project collecting Australian English speech.
Tasks:
The task involves recording 2000 very short English phrases into an online app in quick succession – you will be using an Android smartphone/tablet. If you do not have access to an Android device, you can use a computer and microphone, but preference is given to Android users.
Recording the phrases will take approximately 3 hours.
You must have access to internet via Wi-Fi
If you do not have access to an Android device, PC or Wi-Fi, you may come to our office located in Chatswood to do the recording.
