Regards EduTech Systems Ltd UK Additional Information For Job Working Name ‘Demonstrator’ A program to be used in a school computer suite (local area network) to demonstrate software to other machines. Hardware Specification Currently we use a 2000 server and 98 clients but we also use peer to peer Windows 98 systems. The software should be able to work on both types of network. On server based systems IP addresses are dynamically assigned using DHCP, while on Peer to Peer networks each machine will be assigned a fixed IP address all within the same IP range. This program is to used for demonstrating software across a network, this will include running CD ROMS, and may include small amounts of video output. (Typically Dorling Kindersley type CD ROMS) The program is to be composed of two parts: Teacher Module. This module when started by the teacher will search the local area network for machines that are running the client software. It should report the machine name or user logon name. The teacher can then select all or any number of machines to demonstrate the software. When the teacher has chosen which machines, a message (a locally stored bitmap file perhaps will appear telling the students that they’re machine has been locked). At this point the keyboard and mouse will be locked. From then anything that appears on the teachers machine will appear on the selected student machines, until the teacher releases the machines selected. Student Module This will be run on all machines and be the client which loads at start-up and sits in the background until the teacher module takes over. The software is primarily to be used for Primary Schools so a ‘Primary School Interface’ is required although we are willing to complete this ourselves. Bob Jones 22/04/02
