I need to set up a Cron job for automating one of the manual processes. Following are the detailed specifications for the job:
Current Process-
The e-commerce portal takes care of orders and deliveries. Once the user places the order, the shipment is sent to Courier service for delivery. An employee tracks the order status daily by entering the tracking number onto courier sites(FedEx, DTDC etc) for updates.
Exceptions are generated for shipments in cases of wrong delivery, the buyer not available and many similar reasons. Currently, the process is done manually by entering tracking numbers on courier service website. The list of shipments with their respective tracking number is extracted from Odoo and each shipment is tracked for the status.
Solutions expected-
1. An automated process (Cron Job) which will extract daily shipment details and track the status. Shipments which include exceptions will be selected for further processing.
2. A report for the identified shipments will be generated. The automated job will identify the buyer for each order from Odoo(In-House ERP) and Post Gres SQL database and will send an email to the respective buyer regarding the issue.
