I want to create a website from scratch similar to Kickstarter.com. The site would contain the ability for users to create an account, be able to do some micro blogging, comments, upload images, compatible with Facebook and Twitter, and the ability to keep track of what people have pledged thus far. There, of course, needs to to be an admin backend as well.
I am not sure what the best approach is to take in creating a site like this, using ASP, or PHP, or whatever. Initially I don't want to use an opensource CMS if I can help it, but if you can convince me otherwise I am open to ideas.
