I am seeking advice as to I can use Xero to enable me to keep records of a diverse investment portfolio that I manage on behalf of myself and some partners. I am very familiar with using Xero for regular businesses and indeed I myself use it for 2 businesses. However Xero is not really designed for the requirements of an investment portfolio but there isn't an off the shelf alternative, so I have to make Xero work for me. Problems include how to account for partner's different % ownership of individual investments (the % split's are not the same on each investment), how to revalue the portfolio to reflect changing market values (there is no easy way of changing a price versus quantity and instead I believe that I need to revalue using spreadsheets outside Xero ...
