Design of LPDA and Broadband horn for antenna characterisation. Aims: - To produce a pair of well-designed broadband antennas to be used in an anechoic chamber for characterising research based antenna designs covering the frequency range 300 MHz to 6 GHz. - To determine whether these antennas compare favourably with off the shelf products. Objectives: 1. Research types of antennas used in anechoic chamber for characterisation. 2. Obtain and learn to use antenna simulation software. 3. Produce a paper design of broadband LPDA antenna for 300 MHz to 3 GHz. 4. Design and simulate broadband LPDA design and produce impedance and radiation plots. 5. Produce engineering drawings for LPDA to enable building and testing. 6. Produce a paper design and engineering drawings of broadband horn antenna for 2 GHz to 6 GHz. 7. Experimentally determine the performance of the antenna, if antennas can be practically realised. 8. Critically evaluate the design and performance of these broadband antennas compared with commercially available solutions.
